North Hollywood, CA ( Prwindow ) January 22, 2009 — Auto insurance companies may charge individuals more for a car that is likely to be stolen. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released the latest numbers on not the most stolen vehicles, but the highest number of theft claims submitted to auto insurance companies.
The Cadillac Escalade ESV topped the list in stolen vehicles with the Regular Cadillac Escalade landing at number three. The top ten also included cars made by Honda, Hummer, Dodge and Ford. Auto insurance policyholders should be aware that if their car is on the list, they should take extra precautions to ensure the safety of their vehicle. Keeping the vehicle locked and inside of a garage is important. If you are parking outside, park in a well-lit area. “A vehicle tracking device, like the Lojack, may be able to garner an auto insurance customer a small discount,” says CEO of InsuranceBureau.com, Eric Oster.
