Digital Switching Systems Launches New Keypad with Seakeeper.
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 22, 2008) – Digital Switching Systems, LLC, (DSS) a leading provider of electronic and mechanical switching systems to the marine and transportation markets, announced that it launched a new keypad solution based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol. Developed in conjunction with Seakeeper, Inc., a developer of motion control devices for boats less than 50 meters, this keypad is designed to function as a fully-compatible user input device on a CAN-based system.
“The Seakeeper keypad is the first in a series of product offerings by DSS to satisfy the growing market demand for plug-and-play components,” said Ken Wood, DSS vice president and general manager. “In addition to straight CAN, we plan to roll out market specific protocol variations including J1939 and NMEA 2000.”
“It was exciting to work with DSS on this new initiative,” said Bill Fejes, chief operating officer of Seakeeper, Inc. "Their extensive expertise in CAN-based applications made our decision to partner with them an easy one.”
