|Basel, Switzerland, March 10, 2008 -- All of the software published on the Hermetic Systems website at www.hermetic.ch has been developed by one programmer, Peter Meyer, one of the world's most original and creative software developers. Author of one of the first third-party programs published by Apple Computer, Inc., he worked as a programmer during the 1980s for several companies in California before becoming an independent software developer and publisher. His programs cover several areas of application, including calendar date conversion, encryption, text analysis, web authoring tools and mathematics, and all of them present supportive user interfaces which provide advanced functionality. It is unusual for a single programmer to have produced so many high-quality programs in such diverse fields.
Calendars supported by the calendrical software include not only well-known ones such as the Gregorian, Julian, Maya and Chinese Calendars ("Chinese Calendrics") but also less well-known ones such as the ISO 8601 Week Calendar ("Easy Date Converter"), plus several lunar calendars invented by Peter Meyer ("Lunar Calendars and Eclipse Finder"). There is an "Advanced Version" of "Easy Date Converter" which supports batch date conversions and is also an interpreter for a date-processing programming language (called EDC).
There are five items of security software available, three of which are cryptographic applications: "Cryptosystem ME6" for multiple file encryption, "Easy Email Encryption" (which also allows encryption of email attachments) and "Hermetic Stego" (a steganographic application for hiding data files within multiple BMP graphics files). The other items of security software are "Data Destroyer", for secure deletion of files and wiping of disks, and a file backup program, aptly entitled "Modified File Backup".
The mathematical software is mostly concerned with prime numbers ("Prime Number Spiral") and factorization ("Factorizer"), and there is software for graphics file conversion ("Easy Graphics File Converter") and HTML programming. The last consists of "Easy HTML Construction Kit" (TABLE creation and text-to-HTML conversion) and "Keywords Meta Tag Generator", a program for generation of keywords meta tags which scans HTML documents and extracts the most-used words. There is also an "Advanced Version" of "Keywords Meta Tag Generator" which acts on multiple files in multiple folders.
Peter Meyer has a Master's degree in computational physics, and related to this is his program "Five Cellular Automata", which includes CAs simulating physical processes such as spatio-temporal chemical oscillation and diffusion-limited aggregation.
There are programs for text analysis: "Hermetic Word Frequency Counter", which scans text and counts the frequency of occurrences of different words in multiple files, and "Index Files Search Words", for indexing all words in multiple files in multiple folders, and thereafter conducting searches of those files. There is an "Advanced Version" of "Hermetic Word Frequency Counter" which counts selected phrases in multiple files in multiple folders (this has proved useful in psycholinguistics research), and there is a "Lite" version of "Index Files Search Words" for searching a single file (this is Hermetic Systems' latest and twentieth program, published early 2008).
All software can be freely downloaded as trial or demo versions from the Hermetic Systems website at www.hermetic.ch (the 'ch' comes from "Confederation Helvetica", a.k.a. Switzerland). Further information is available by writing to Hermetic Systems at firstname.lastname@example.org.
