 New York, NY,May 20, 2008 -- Branding itself an Internet Supermarket and the Internet Retail Superstore, www.its-your-internet.com, recently opened a physical location in Forest Hills, Queens.
“The store is a reaction to the dismissal of brick and mortar retail by the dot-coms,” says founding owner Jonathan Jaffe. “In the brick and mortar retail environment today, there are really no stores where consumers can walk in and buy a web site, start a blog, join a social network, get traffic for their business web site, or post and blast out their resume.”
The emergence of hybrid brick and mortar and dot com stores, “dot-bricks,” has already grabbed the popular imagination, most recently in the movie The 40 Year Old Virgin in which a main character had a physical eBay store. The first Internet dedicated store, an Internet Café in London, opened in 1994; however, apart from Internet Cafés and a handful of eBay stores, the “dot-bricks” have been slow to transform physical spaces into virtual links to the Internet.
Similar in layout to an Internet Café, the store has multiple stations dedicated to the store’s virtual catalog. The store allows customers to check their email and browse the Internet for free as they shop.
The store creates a marketplace for Internet services and products at fixed prices, providing the support and hand-holding of a store with the imagination and efficiency of the Internet. The owners also provide free consultation and professional consulting services.
Open just shy of a month, the store has started laying firm roots in the community, hosting the first of a free monthly professional networking event, taking a booth at the job fair of the local college, Bramsonort, becoming a proud member of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce, and preparing to exhibit on June 8th at the Forest Hills Arts Festival.
