 JASON W. MITCHINER, THE NAKED AUTHOR, STOPS AT NOTHING TO FIND HIS AUDIENCE AND BECOME CLOTHED BY A LITERARY AGENT AND PUBLISHER
The Naked Author, Jason W. Mitchiner, has burst onto the scene in NYC and NJ by land, sea and air. From his first historic book signing in his Speedo to walking into Random House in NYC to try to hand deliver his second book, the Naked Author has continued pounding the streets with enthusiasm. In his Speedo and with book copy in hand Mitchiner has run marathons in NYC & NJ, skydived from an airplane and even surfed in the Belmar Pro in NJ. All these stunts to promote his first book, Full Moon Rising:Based On A True Story and find his audience for future novels and a literary agent and publisher to clothe him in their brand.
The journey to getting Mitchiner his ultimate goal of a big name publisher has been the most challenging part thus far. Kelly Mortimer from the Mortimer Literary Agency encourages "I know you said you didn’t need a line edit, but when I started reading, I had to do a page. I could tell by your query you have the drive to be a writer, which is why I’m trying to help you. If you can be “The Naked Author,” you can be, “The Published Naked Author”! Keep fightin'.” Mitchiner also sought advice on the process from well established writer Mary Jane Clark who explains “I think it’s important to send out the most polished manuscript you can...you have to decide if you have the money to invest in your dream...with no guarantees of success.”
Although making a name for himself on the local scene has been easy for the infectiously likeable author, Mitchiner realized he needed more than just writing talent and bold ambition to fully accomplish his dreams. The Naked Author has hired the help of a professional freelance editor to make his second book perfectly edited and hopefully, this time around, picked up by a literary agent and then a large publisher. The cost of this editor will far exceed the minimal sum he paid to edit his first book, Full Moon Rising:Based On A True Story. All of the money that the Naked Author makes on the streets of New York City/New Jersey will go into covering the several thousand estimate his new editor will charge. Mitchiner will pay the fee bit by bit as he raises the money as the Naked Author. Anyone can visit Mitchiner’s website, nakedauthor.com and purchase a copy of his first book or make a donation to the cause and also learn more about the author himself.
Mitchiner hopes that the editing funds will get raised and the book picked up and printed before the fall of 2008. That’s when the Naked Author will turn his attention at raising over $2,500 for charity and participate in the NYC Marathon with a copy of his second book, Red Sea Divided:Based On A True Story. At the moment the Naked Author is preparing for the Empire State Building Run-Up on February 5th at 9:00 AM in the Preliminary Race, where he will attempt to run up 1,576 stairs with a copy of his book in hand in his trusty Speedo. Mitchiner will also record his adventure and broadcast it on youtube.com as just another segment of the Naked Author Reality Show clips.
Jason W. Mitchiner, The Naked Author, is putting everything that he has mentally, physically and emotionally into his books and promoting them as he hopes to one day be covered by the warmth and embrace of a literary agent and large publisher like Time Warner/TWX, Random House/Bertelsmann AG, BLOOMBERG, etc. He has hopes to start to take the weight of marketing off his shoulders and focus on writing new books that would one day be made available under a label throughout every bookstore worldwide.
