HelpDesk for Outlook and SharePoint is totally web based, but note that this is not an ordinary web based helpdesk but a helpdesk based on SharePoint, which is an environment that Microsoft is favoring strongly. HelpDesk for Outlook and SharePoint has three parts: an Outlook add-on that is installed on every helpdesk worker’s client machine, a report generator and a SharePoint template. E-mails are converted into tickets in Outlook, manually or automatically, and they are then stored and organized at the SharePoint site. A Settings form in Outlook handles the connection between Outlook and SharePoint.
