U.S.,April 30,2008--Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s abysmal failure to get major support from white workers, and rural white voters in major states, the racially inflammatory controversy surrounding his former pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and his so-called race speech laying out his views on race in America are daunting examples of how race has dogged the footsteps of Obama throughout his drive for the White House.

Race won’t sink his candidacy, says Hutchinson , but it will be a tormenting worry for Obama and the Democratic Party.
