du discloses its launch ‘Procurement Strategy’ at the 5th Middle East Purchasing Forum 2007

United States(prwindow)- September 25 2007 -As the Middle East goes through a transition, industries earlier thought restrictive are now penetrable. Lean procurement, when strategically implemented, generates extreme savings, reduces costs which then places the organisation strategically to enter a monopolistic industry sector.

Anis Tabka, Executive Director Supply Chain at du, will address the 5th Middle East Procurement Forum 2007 on procurement’s integral role in du’s path to successfully positioning themselves at par with the incumbent, days after its launch. ’du is all set to take up market share and expand beyond its expected targets’ says Anis. ‘The UAE is an extremely conducive market to launch a world class product. Looking back, we would not have it any other way. The region is under going a surge in consumer spending and strategic procurement is the key to mitigate risk on such high volumes we trade at. The launch is a reflection of globalisation in the midst of an evolution in procurement’s transition’.

Sherif Eskandar, who spearheads regional purchasing in the Middle East for Nestle, explains 'Reducing prices through negotiation and ensuring supply continuity is not enough any longer. Today, strategic purchasing professionals are expected to bring both bottom and top line impact to allow their businesses to grow and stay ahead of competition. Through their proximity to the supply market and through strategic partnerships, purchasing professionals can provide not only high quality products at reasonable cost, but also spur innovation. Sherif explains how evolving skills for the modern procurement manager come together when knowledge management and leadership drive a world class procurement strategy.
